Q: What is the difference between counter height and bar height?

Counter height stools (24-26 inch seat height) fit standard 36-inch kitchen counters and islands. Bar height stools (28-32 inch seat height) are for taller 40-42 inch pub tables and home bars. Measure from the floor to the underside of your counter and subtract 10-12 inches.

Swivel vs. Stationary

Swivel stools rotate 360 degrees, making it easy to turn and talk or get on and off. Stationary stools stay put and tend to be more stable.

Back Styles

Full backs offer the most support for long meals. Low backs give a casual look with some support. Backless stools tuck completely under the counter.

Arms or No Arms

Arms add comfort for extended sitting but require more clearance. Measure between the top of the arm and the underside of your counter to ensure they fit.
