The initial consultation in your home will take about an hour. This gives us time to measure, take before photos and meet with you and your family to go over how you want to use the room, things you like and want to keep. After the initial consultation the designer will take approximately 8 to 10 hours working on your floor plans and designing your space. When you come back in for the presentation and make decisions, it will typically take 2 hours to go through the design, furniture, fabrics, accessories and make any adjustments needed.
We will come out and measure the room or rooms you are wanting to design and purchase furniture for. We will visit with you to understand the colors you want and do not want, talk about pieces you might want to incorporate in the plan and how your family uses the room and what your starting investment range. We will take photos to ensure we have everything we need to go back to the showroom and put together a perfect plan for you.
During the design presentation we will go over fabric selection to create the mood and the durablity you need, furniture that will fit your family needs and then the accessories to complete the look. Once selections are made, we will go over the investment and you can decide what you want to start with and if you want to do things in phases or complete it all at once.
You can read about the designers on our Designer Bio page and learn more about their tastes and design philosophy. We have a variety of backgrounds and specialities for you to pick a person that you feel would understand you and your lifestyle.
It works best if you set up a time when you can have a conversation with the designer over the phone or in the store to see if your personalities mesh. It is so important that you like your conversation so that you trust the designer will make your room look the way you want. Our designers are trained to take your goals and ideas and make them a reality.
Our designers are training to complete floor plans, fabrics, accessories and furniture to meet the demands that families can on furniture. We will work with your paint scheme and flooring and architectural features in your home; but do not make those selections for you.
Your designer will meet with you at the showroom whenever you need, please schedule an appointment with them to make sure they are in the store on the day you want to come in. Typically your designer will come out to your home once for the initial consultation and then if possible when your furniture is being delivered.
If you want to have the designer look at more than one room, you can do that at the same initial consultation or schedule a separate Design Call in the future.
From your initial phone call to your designer, the in-home consultation and then the showroom presentation will take about 3 hours of your time and then depending on the furniture selected we can have your room completed anywhere between two weeks and three months.
Once you schedule an appointment your designer will reach out to you via phone or email to arrange a time that best works for you to meet either at your home or in the showroom. We strive to be out to your home within 48 hours and have your floor plans and design selections ready to review with you within a week.
From start to placing an order to finishing the room on delivery - we will work at your speed and work around your deadlines.
When the initial in-home appointment is scheduled, there is a $150 deposit that will be applied to your first order. There is no minimum for the in-home consultation.
However if you are looking to add a chair or need ideas on how to set up your room, our designers are available in the showroom and you can bring photos so we can assist you without having a home visit.
Our team of in-home designers are members of interior design organizations: The Interior Design Society and The American Society of Interior Designers. They have also taken certification courses to be a qualified In-Home Designer.
The Interior Design Society (IDS) is an independent national organization and one of the country's largest design organizations dedicated to serving the residential interior design industry. IDS embraces four core values including professionalism, community, influence and growth.
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is the oldest, largest and only multi-disciplinary professional organization for interior designers, interior design students and the manufacturers and suppliers who support the profession.
A little preparation can go along way towards creating a successful initial meeting. Prioritize your projects by focusing on the spaces that are most important to you. Identify the functionality of your living space, your time frame and budget. You are encouraged to look at magazines, books and online sites for inspiration and color. Providing these items at your consultation can help to jump start the process and show what your vision is. Not sure where to begin yet? We can help with that too!
