Gaining an extra hour is always a plus, how do you adjust to the time change this fall? According to The Better Sleep Council, updating your bedroom could have a big impact on the quality and quantity of your sleep. Take note of these ways to make the most of your space and convert it into a relaxing sleep oasis!
First things first, begin by assessing your bedroom and asking yourself questions on how you can improve it, such as:
Identify ways you can improve your room and start taking notes. Find décor inspiration for your dreamy bedroom, such as natural landscapes, fabrics and furniture to update your room’s look. One great way to kickoff the process: compile ideas in a journal to organize your thoughts!
Next, set a budget and prioritize your spending. Your bed should be the main focus of your sleep sanctuary. If you’ve had the same mattress for seven years or more, it’s possible you may need a new one. Finding the right mattress can make a huge difference, and it’s essential to invest in the best quality and comfort you can afford.
Based on your budget, you can also upgrade to blackout curtains and dimmer switches to control the amount of light seeping in.
There are tiny ways to ease into changing your bedtime habits for a better night’s sleep. First, power down your laptop, cell phone, tablets and other gadgets and leave them out of the bedroom. A quiet environment void of blue light is ideal, and leaving devices out of the room eliminates any distractions.
Is your bedroom at the right temp? Check the thermostat and adjust the temperature to around 65 degrees Fahrenheit for a comfortable sleep.
Finally, keep your room clean and simple. It should be a personal and intimate space, but at the same time, it should also be inviting. Remove all clutter on the nightstand and put away any clothing or other items. Whatever changes you can make, it’s important to make your bedroom work for you, and take it day by day to make sleep a priority.
