no matter how hard you try outdoor furniture will eventually need to be replaced in this video we're going to discuss some ways that we can preserve your furniture and make it last longer the last thing you want when you're enjoying a summer evening with friends is falling through your wicker furniture my name is adam york and i've been with furniture fair for 17 months and i have excelled selling outdoor furniture these are some very important things to keep in mind when preserving your outdoor furniture why should you keep your furniture clean why should you protect your furniture and finally why should you secure your outdoor furniture if you preserve your outdoor furniture it could potentially last about five years if you do not you're probably only going to get about two summers out of it if you don't choose to preserve your furniture you're going to get stains you're going to have fading you're going to have the wicker deteriorate the fabric will deteriorate you're going to have pests and insects burrowing in it it's not going to fare very well for more than two seasons so some of the ways that you can protect your fabric on your cushions for your outdoor furniture is in the sun you want to remove them when you're not using them so that they're not faded and breaking down if it's in a wooded area where you have the trees and leaves and debris you may want to brush all that off if it stains then you'll have to use a mild detergent these are the simplest ways to keep your outdoor furniture clean and make them last longer although outdoor furniture has a uv protectant you still need to recognize that it can fade from the sun it can get debris on it from under trees and leaves and you can get mold and mildew from rainy areas in all three of these cases the best practice would to be just bring them in bring them into your garage and keep them protected from any of the elements outside securing your furniture is a great way to take care of your investment you can keep your furniture protected from rain wind snow what you could do is you could tie your umbrella down you could stack your chairs up next to each other or stack them on top of each other push everything close to the house so it's not going to be in wind if you don't secure your furniture you are going to lose your umbrella to wind your chairs will probably blow away your table will flip over i had an instance with my umbrella i did not secure it properly so when the storm came up the wind took it went into the tree the wind blew it right out of the tree and it was completely damaged it was unusable but that was because i didn't do what i was supposed to do and secure it i know i've been repetitive but the three main things to take away and that you can do now is protect from the sun spray off any stains or debris on your outdoor furniture and store away in any major weather event if you have any further questions please give customer care a call they'll be able to take care of you in any of those questions
