What size mattress do you need?

The size of your mattress is completely dependent on your preferences, room size, and lifestyle.

Twin – This size is a great option for kids to grow into. This size can last for years, especially for smaller children.

Twin XL – Think college dorm room. Meant to fit most adults, this size is a great option for cramped rooms without much space.

Full – Wider than a Twin, Full mattresses are perfect for single adults (or two people who don’t mind being close at night.) Still perfect for smaller rooms, the Full mattress is the mattress of choice for smaller apartments.

Queen – The Queen is the most popular mattress choice, as it fits both one and two people comfortably. One person can spread out with room to spare, and two people are able to still have their space.

King – The King is the same height as the Queen but provides a lot more space. Two people fit very comfortably, and both people and pets can lay out for a movie night or family time. Taller or larger people will find this size very comfortable.

How Long Does A Mattress Last?

A mattress is an investment that should last for years. The average life expectancy varies depending on the type of material is used to manufacture it. Therefore, some mattresses will last longer while others will need to be replaced soon.

The majority of good-quality mattresses have a lifespan of 7-10 years. However, it can last over 10 years (sometimes even more) depending on the level of care. Most mattresses should be replaced within 10 years to get the best results. Generally, foam and latex mattresses tend to last longer than the average lifespan. A memory foam mattress can last well over 10 years due to the supportive and durable high-density foam that makes these mattresses special.

How To Clean A Mattress

Mattresses need maintenance just like other home furnishings. While we often forget, your mattress needs to be cleaned to make it last longer. Below you’ll find the steps necessary to give your mattress a good clean!

  1. Strip your bed and vacuum with an upholstery attachment. Make sure to get into the seams and crevasses to remove as much dust as possible.
  2. Spot clean. Scan the mattress for any stains and spills, then clean with a stain remover. A good upholstery or enzyme cleaner will make sure that biological stains disappear in a flash. Spray the cleaner onto a clean white cloth (use white to not transfer any color from the cloth) and then blot the stained area. Afterwards, you can apply cold water to a different clean cloth and continue blotting until the stain lifts. You could use an alternative of dish soap and water is you don’t have an enzyme cleaner.
  3. The best way to deodorize a mattress is to take it outside and let it air out. However, this is not a possibility for many people. Alternatively, sprinkle with baking soda. Don’t be stingy! Allow this layer to sit for at least a few hours.
  4. Vacuum again. Once the baking soda has sat for as long as you’d like, vacuum it up.
  5. Flip and repeat. Flip the mattress and repeat the above steps on the other side for a complete clean!
