When a storm tears through a town, it doesn’t just take down power lines and rooftops. It disrupts routines, upends memories, and leaves families trying to figure out how to start again. For our neighbors in Kentucky, that’s the reality after the devastating tornadoes that struck in mid-May.

At Furniture Fair, we believe home is more than a place. It’s a feeling. And when that feeling is lost, we do what we can to help restore it.

What Happened

On May 16 and 17, powerful tornadoes swept through parts of Missouri and Kentucky, hitting communities like Somerset and London hard. Lives were lost. Homes were destroyed. Power and basic services were knocked out for tens of thousands. It’s the kind of tragedy that feels overwhelming unless people come together to help.

How We’re Helping

We’ve partnered with Matthew 25: Ministries, an organization known for showing up when it matters most. They’ve already sent mobile laundry units, charging stations, hygiene trailers, and truckloads of essentials to families in the disaster zones. But the need continues, and that’s where we all come in.

All 12 of our Furniture Fair storesare serving as drop-off points for essential items throughout the month of June. Our teams are ready to receive donations and help get them into the right hands.

What We’re Collecting

Not everyone knows what to donate in moments like this, so we’re making it simple. These are the most urgently needed supplies:

  • Bottled water (12 or 24 pack)
  • Personal care: soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, lotion
  • Cleaning supplies: detergent, bleach, gloves, sponges
  • Paper products: toilet paper, paper towels
  • Baby care: diapers, wipes, baby shampoo, lotion
  • First aid: bandages, antiseptic, gloves
  • Flashlights and batteries
  • Cleanup gear: trash bags, work gloves, protective eyewear

If you’ve ever had a moment when life felt upside down, you know how much small things matter. These donations bring not just comfort, but dignity to people going through a hard time.

Where and When to Donate

Now through June 30, every Furniture Fair location across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana is accepting donations during store hours. Look for the boxes at the front of the store. If you have questions, any team member will be happy to help.

Why This Matters

Our business may be about furniture, but our mission is about helping people feel at home. Whether that’s delivering the perfect sectional or showing up when someone has nothing, it all comes down to care. This donation drive isn’t about charity. It’s about community.

We hope you’ll join us. Not because it’s expected. But because when someone’s house has been torn apart, the kindness of strangers helps stitch things back together.
